Julia and Dan were married on 22 May 2021 at Houchins. They chose a beautiful colour palette of dusky pinks, blues, whites and some deep red, and I used a mix of roses, spray roses, peonies, sweet peas, astilbe, delphinium, astrantia and gypsophila, with three different varieties of eucalyptus. Julia's bouquet was a beautiful, scented selection of all my favourite flowers! I finished the stems with a natural hessian ribbon kept in place with pearl headed pins. Julia's two bridesmaids carried smaller versions of her bouquet, which looked beautiful against their navy dresses. The little flower girl carried a wand, with flowers to match the bouquets and finished with twine. Dan's buttonhole featured a selection of flowers to compliment the bridal bouquet - white and pink spray roses, delphinium, astrantia and eucalyptus. The other men wore similar buttonholes but without the astrantia - it's usually nice for the groom to have a little something extra in his buttonhole! Delivering to the venue! The rain held off long enough for the ceremony to be held outside under the marquee. We kept the decoration simple yet elegant - gypsophila chair ends and a long and low on the registrar's table. I later moved over a couple of the geometric lanterns and placed one either side of the long and low as additional decoration. We decorated the tables with a log slice and a trio of gin bottles - one with a candle, one with the table name and one for the chair ends to be moved into after the ceremony. I decorated around the outside of the log slice with loosely placed eucalyptus and flowers dotted throughout. We were originally to decorate the fireplace and windowsills in the foundry, however the latest government guidelines didn't allow for a dancefloor so the venue ended up closing off this area. I'm nothing if not adaptable though so a quick call two days before the wedding and we made a new plan - Julia was happy to trust me to use my judgement on the day as to what would work best. There were three tables in the bar area so I decorated these with geometric lanterns and a ring of flowers/foliage around the outside. I also put similar arrangements on the fireplace in the grain store and on another side table. The lovely cake was made by Aster Cake Designs, a combination of raspberry and salted caramel it sounded delicious! I decorated it with a few groupings of flowers to match the rest of the wedding. A few gift bouquets to say thank you finished off the flowers, with handwritten name labels and a heartfelt message from the bride and groom for each recipient.
